"Remember that happiness is a way of travel - not a destination".
Roy M. Goodman

By Car

If travelling from the south or east follow the A303 west from the M3 (junction 8). Alternatively follow the A350 south from the M4 (junction 17) until the A361 until Trowbridge - then go west on the A361. You should see the signs by Shepton Mallet

If travelling from the north, follow the A39 eastwards from the M5 (junction 23). You should see signs from the village of Street.

Parking

The car parks are free for all Festival ticket holders. They are all outside the security fence and separate from the camping areas.

The ceremony surrounding parking vehicles is almost a traditional way of life at Glastonbury - get used to queues and flourescent-clad stewards with emotionless faces barking orders and turning you away from the field you’ve just arrived at.

It is advised to arrive in Wednesday to avoid queues. From Thursday it can start to get chocka and by early Friday it's pretty solid. From late Friday onwards it's easy enough with the rush out beginning Sunday afternoon - still it's all worth it, eh?

There are a few common sense rules which the festival is keen to enforce for obvious reasons:

  • No vehicles are to be parked in the fire lanes at any time.
  • No sound systems are to be operated in the caravan/camper van fields.
  • No canvas can be erected, except for manufacturers' awnings on caravans and caravanettes.
  • The fields must be clear by 12 noon on Tuesday 28 June. Any remaining vehicles will be removed.
  • Please respect the Country Code at all times.
  • Please do not use the village for access - this causes particular inconvenience for the villagers.

    By Train

The Festival lays on free coaches for ticket holders from Castle Cary station (the closest station to the festival site) to the Festival Bus Station.

You are advised that the site lies about a mile from the Festival Bus Station and you will have to carry your belongings to the site - it can be a wheeze!
